Service to Soil prepares service-disabled, recently separated, and retired veterans for successful careers in agriculture through hands-on training, business education, and connections to resources and opportunities.
Service to Soil is a veterans-only program. Other BAU Farm Foundation training and resources are open to farmers of every background.

Program Overview
Training Experience
3-day immersive, in-person cohorts held quarterly. Combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning at local farms.
Curriculum Focus
Soil health, specialty crop and livestock production, farm safety, business planning, marketing, financial management, agricultural technology, and mental wellness.
Partner Support
Community partners refer eligible participants and connect them to resources, mentorship, and industry opportunities.

Our Goal
Equip 120 participants over three years with the knowledge, skills, and support to start or grow successful agricultural careers.

Curriculum, land, mentors, and stipend funding for our 3-day intensive are coming together now. We'll open applications for the first cohort once grant funding is secured and the model farm is ready to host trainees safely.
