Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

BAU Farm Foundation is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for farmers, donors, volunteers, and the general public. We work to continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards to our website, forms, donor portal, and event materials.

Standards we follow

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological differences.

As a U.S. nonprofit serving farmers, we also strive to align with the principles of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as they apply to public-facing websites.

Measures we take

• Semantic HTML with proper landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) so assistive technologies can navigate the page.
• Keyboard navigation for all interactive elements, with visible focus indicators.
• Color contrast that meets or exceeds WCAG AA for body text and UI controls.
• Descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images; decorative images marked so screen readers skip them.
• Labels associated with every form field, with clear error messages.
• Accessible dialog, menu, and dropdown components built on Radix primitives to ensure correct ARIA and focus management.
• Responsive layouts that reflow on small screens and support 200% browser zoom.
• Reduced-motion support that respects the operating-system prefers-reduced-motion setting.
• Accessibility considerations reviewed as part of our design and development process.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:

• Some third-party embeds (for example, payment checkout, video, or maps) inherit the accessibility of those providers and may not fully match our own standards.
• Older PDFs and event flyers may lack tags, alt text, or a logical reading order. We provide accessible alternatives on request.
• Photographs from farm events may not always include detailed descriptions; captions are added where practical.

If any content prevents you from accessing information or completing a task, please contact us and we will provide the information in an accessible format.

Assessment approach

We assess the accessibility of our site through a combination of:

• Self-evaluation using automated tools (for example, axe-core and Lighthouse).
• Manual keyboard-only and screen-reader spot checks.
• User feedback from farmers, volunteers, and site visitors.

This statement was last reviewed on July 15, 2026. We review it at least annually and after significant changes to the site.

Formal complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your concern to the Foundation's Executive Director at the same address, with "Accessibility — Escalation" in the subject line. U.S. residents who believe they have experienced disability discrimination may also contact the U.S. Department of Justice ADA information line.
