Volunteer with Service to Soil
Companies, community partners, and individuals help us deliver hands-on agriculture training to veterans. Volunteering is open to everyone — you do not need to be a veteran or a farmer.
What volunteering looks like
Six ways your team can serve
Cohort day support
Each 3-day intensive needs hands for check-in, meals, transportation, supplies, and keeping the day running on time. Typical shift: 4–8 hours.
Hands-on farm work days
Field prep, planting, harvesting, composting, and season cleanup on the host farm. No experience needed — we train you on site.
Build & repair projects
Fencing, hoop houses, wash-pack stations, irrigation, and equipment repair. Great fit for skilled-trades teams.
Skills mentoring
Share professional expertise — bookkeeping, marketing, logistics, HR, legal, or ag production — in short sessions with veteran participants.
Veteran peer support
Veterans and military family members help welcome participants, sit in on cohorts, and stay connected after graduation.
Events & outreach
Staff a table at resource fairs and community events, help with mailings, photography, and follow-up calls.
How to sign up
Four steps from interest to service day
- 1
Fill out the signup form
Takes about two minutes. Tell us your name, employer, how many people are coming, and what kind of work interests you.
- 2
We reach out within 3 business days
Our program director confirms your fit and shares upcoming dates, the site address, and what to wear and bring.
- 3
Complete the quick intake
Sign a standard liability waiver and photo release. Volunteers working directly with participants complete a short orientation.
- 4
